Essential Oil Uses for the Family (Babies, Children and Adults)
For each condition below, several different oils are listed. This does not mean you need to use all the oils listed. Typically, you should only use one of the oils at a time.
A= Aromatic T= Topical I= Internal B= Blend/Recipe Allergies (airborne): lavender, peppermint - A: Diffuse and inhale. T: Apply to sinuses and to bottoms of feet. Apply peppermint to the base of the neck two times a day.
Allergies (skin): melaeuca, lavender, Roman Chamomile, myrrh, peppermint - T: Apply on location. B: Apply 3 drops lavender, 6 drops Roman Chamomile, 2 drops myrrh, and 1 drop peppermint on location.
Asthma: Breathe, eucalyptus, frankincense, peppermint - A: Inhale the aroma directly; difuse, and inhale aroma. T: Apply to the chest, throat, or back.
Bruises: helichrysum, Deep Blue, geranium, fennal - T: Apply over bruise.
Burns: lavender - T: Apply on location.
Calming: lavender, ylang ylang, melissa, Serenity - A: Diffuse into the air, and inhale. T: Apply on back of neck, temples, chest, and shoulders. Use during massage.
Chicken Pox: lavender, melaleuca, Roman chamomile - T: Add 1 drop to 1 quart warm water, and use water for a sponge bath. B: Combine 10 drops each of lavender and Roman chamomile with 4 oz. calamine lotion, and apply twice a day over body.
Colds (Common): On Gaurd, thyme, lemon, melaleuca - I: Swallow 1-2 drops On Gaurd, melaleuca, or lemon with water or in a capsule. T: Apply oils on throat, temples, forehead, sinuses, and below the nose. A: Diffuse into the air.
Colic: marjoram, bergamot, ylang ylang- T: Dilute with fractionated coconut oil, and massage a small amount on stomach and back.
Congestion: eucalyptus, peppermint, Breathe - T: Apply on chest, neck, back, and feet. A: Diffuse oil, or inhale aroma directly.
Constipation: DigestZen, rosemary, lemon, peppermint - T: Massage oils gently on lower abdomen. I: Take DigestZen in capsules.
Coughs: Breathe, melaleuca, eucalyptus, frankincense, On Gaurd - A: Diffuse into air , or inhale directly. T: Apply on chest and throat.
Cradle Cap: lemon, geranium - B: Combine 2 Tbs. almond oil with 1 drop each of lemon and geranium. Apply a tiny amount on head.
Diaper Rash: lavender, Roman chamomile - T: Add one drop of each oil to 1 tsp. fractionated coconut oil, and apply on location.
Diarrhea: DigestZen, peppermint, ginger - I: Take oils in empty capsules. T: Apply over abdomen with a warm compress.
Ear Infection: melaleuca, Purify - T: Apply 1-2 drop on the surface of the eat and behind the ear on the mastoid done. Apply on a small cotton ball, and place over the ear canal opening (do not press into ear canal). Never put oils directly in the ear canal!
Fever: peppermint, lemon, lime, eucalyptus, clove - I: Take oils in empty capsule. T: Apply to back, back of neck, or bottoms of feet.
Flu (Influenza): Breathe, melaleuca, peppermint, On Guard, rosemary, eucalyptus - A: Diffuse into the air. T: Add to hot bathwater before bathing. Massage onto the thymus area, chest, back, sinuses, or feet.
Headache: Past Tense, peppermint, Deep Blue, rosemary - T: Gently apply on temples, forehead, and back of neck. A: Inhale.
Jaundice: geranium - T: Rub oil on liver area, abdomen, and reflex points on the feet.
Mastitis: lavender, Citrus Bliss - B: Combine oils, and apply on affected area of the breast.
Measles: eucalyptus - A: Diffuse into the air, and inhale. T: Rub on chest, neck, back, or bottoms of the feet.
Morning Sickness: ginger, peppermint - I: Take oil in empty capsules. A: Inhale the aroma of the oil.
Rubella: melaleuca - T: Place on chest, neck, back, and reflex points on the feet.
Sleep: lavender, Serenity - A: Place oil on pillow before sleeping. Diffuse into the air. T: Place oil on spine, bottoms of feet, or back of neck. Add oil to bathwater before bathing.
Teething Pain: lavender - T: Swab a small amount on location or along jawbone.
Thrush: melaleuca, lavender, Clear Skin - T: Dilute, and swab a small amount on location or on nipple before breastfeeding.
Whooping Cough: oregano - T: Dilute with factionated coconut oil, massage on chest, back, neck, and reflex points on the feet.
